Gratitude for our Volunteers

It's that time of year when our winter residents begin their journey back north. It is also the time we like to acknowledge them and thank them for all the services they provide to this community. You will see them collecting trash along the road, at the food pantry every Wednesday, helping outwith the many Lions Club events, church programs, AND greeting the hundreds of visitors who come to our Everglades Area Welcome Center. Mike Mostachetti is one of our volunteers who works every Saturday welcoming tourists to our area. Being a volunteer at the Welcome Center is very rewarding. We have people coming from around the world and most have never been to the Everglades before. We guide them to the various tours, parks/preserves, restaurants, and activities. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer and meeting new people, please contact Patty at 239-719-0020 or stop by the Welcome Center and talk to one of our volunteers. And, again, thanks to all our volunteers, part-time and year-round.
